چکیده

The interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) data set, acquired by the TanDEM-X (TerraSAR-X add-on for Digital Elevation Measurement) mission (TDM), represents a unique source to derive geo-information products at global scale. complete Earth’s landmasses have been surveyed least twice during bistatic operation, which started end of 2010. Examples delivered are digital elevation model (DEM) (at final independent posting 12 m × m) or Forest/Non-Forest (FNF) map. need reliable water product from was dictated limited accuracy and difficulty use TDX Water Indication Mask (WAM), as by-product DEM, jeopardizes its scientific applications, well. Similarly it has done generation FNF map; in this work, we utilize set quicklook images 50 resolution, between 2011 2016, new body layer (WBL), covering range ?60? +90? latitudes. coherence is used primary input feature performing detection. We classify surfaces single images, considering system’s geometric configuration exploiting watershed-based segmentation algorithm. Subsequently, overlapping acquisitions mosaicked together two-step logically weighting process TDM WBL product, comprises binary averaged water/non-water well permanent/temporary indication layer. assessed over Europe, through comparison with Copernicus wetness layer, provided European Space Agency (ESA), 20 resolution. F-score ranges 83%, when all geocells (of 1? latitudes longitudes) up 93%, only content higher than 1%. At scale, quality evaluated, intercomparison, other existing maps, resulting an overall agreement that often exceeds 85% (F-score) geocell presented study will be made available community free download usage.

Coherence Evaluation of TanDEM-X Interferometric Data

The TanDEM-X (TerraSAR-X add-on for Digital Elevation Measurement) mission comprises two nearly identical satellites: TerraSAR-X (TSX, launched in 2007), and TanDEM-X (TDX, launched in June 2010). The primary objective of the mission is to generate a worldwide and consistent digital elevation model (DEM) with an unprecedented accuracy. During the first three months after its launch, the TDX sat...

Characterization of Snow Facies on the Greenland Ice Sheet Observed by TanDEM-X Interferometric SAR Data

This paper presents for the first time a detailed study on information content of X-band single-pass interferometric spaceborne SAR data with respect to snow facies characterization. An approach for classifying different snow facies of the Greenland Ice Sheet by exploiting X-band TanDEM-X interferometric synthetic aperture radar acquisitions is firstly detailed. Large-scale mosaics of radar bac...

Global Forest Classification from Tandem-x Interferometric Data: Potentials and First Results

This paper presents a method to generate forest/nonforest maps from TanDEM-X interferometric SAR data. Among the several contributions which may affect the quality of interferometric products, the coherence loss caused by volume scattering represents the contribution which is predominantly affected by the presence of vegetation, and is therefore here exploited as main indicator for forest class...

Evaluation of DEM generation based on Interferometric SAR using TanDEM-X data in Tokyo

This study is focused on the evaluation of a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) for Tokyo, Japan from data collected by the recently launched TerraSAR add-on for Digital Elevation Measurements (TanDEM-X), satellite of the German Aerospace Center (DLR). The aim of the TanDEM-X mission is to use Interferometric SAR techniques to generate a consistent high resolution global DEM dataset. In order to gen...

Interferometric SAR Coherence Models for Characterization of Hemiboreal Forests Using TanDEM-X Data

In this study, four models describing the interferometric coherence of the forest vegetation layer are proposed and compared with the TanDEM-X data. Our focus is on developing tools for hemiboreal forest height estimation from single-pol interferometric SAR measurements, suitable for wide area forest mapping with limited a priori information. The multi-temporal set of 19 TanDEM-X interferometri...
